Logo Update: What can we learn from google’s new logo?

Aside from the font change, the largest takeaway from Google’s brand update is that it is no longer a static wordmark. Their dynamic new logo turns into an animated figure that is only possible on screens. This new loge, Google said, will be easier to read on small devices, and a better compliment to its new mobile-friendly “G” icon.

Google was initially created for desktop computers nearly two decades ago. Now, people are accessing the web with a number of different devices. The logo change, is just the latest from the Mountain View company that now specializes in numerous verticals.

“These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices–sometimes all in a single day,” wrote Tamar Yehoshua Bobby Nath, a Google product manager and director, respectively.

Google has updated its logo six times since its inception. The latest update will add colorful new elements like the Google mic that help you identify and interact with Google whether you’re talking, tapping or typing.
